MINI HANDMADE NOTEBOOKS.

I was just scrolling through the DIY projects on A Beautiful Mess' blog a while ago when I stumbled upon this adorable little afternoon filler. You only need bits and bobs from around the house to make these cute mini notebooks: old magazine pages, paper, washi tape, etc... (a full list of supplies is on their original post here). I thought I'd give it a go and these are the creations I came up with!

SUMMER EVENING OUTFIT.

I'm not sure whether it's technically summer yet, but the weather has warmed up all of sudden here in England, so I thought I'd share a summery outfit with you all.

I wore this outfit for an evening out in Spain with some friends last year. For the body, I actually used this multicoloured aztec print bodycon dress from River Island and put a black skater skirt over the top of it. I think this is a pretty cool way to style more form-fitting dresses. The extra layer underneath was pretty useful when I was actually wearing it, as I had a slight Marilyn moment when the wind took me by surprise and basically blew my skirt up! But I held onto my dignity because the dress was underneath so I didn't flash anyone, thank goodness!

I paired the outfit with these gorgeous black suede heels from Primark - they were a complete bargain only setting me back £12! They aren't that difficult to walk in seeing as they have a platform and a chunky heel, however if you were going for a more casual look or you just don't like heels, you could wear some black gladiator sandals or something similar instead.

Disclaimer: I bought all of these items of clothing with my own money and photographed them myself.

ASOS SAVED ITEMS - LEAVERS SOCIAL DRESSES.

I have my Leavers Social tonight - it's the equivalent of a senior prom, I think! It's a relatively formal event, but we weren't given a strict dress code. Most girls in my year have gone for long dresses, but after my last prom two years ago, I vowed not to wear another long dress with heels anytime soon. This was because it's just inconvenient when you wanna kick of your heels and have a dance - you have to heave your dress around, and basically I'm just too lazy! Also, I'm quite a clumsy person and I'm pretty sure I stepped on my own dress (and probably other people's too) multiple times and I just can't be doing with it this year, quite frankly!

These are the dresses I considered getting for the Social - they're all from ASOS but a couple are by Little Mistress and one is by TFNC. I think these chiffon-y skater dresses are a gorgeous style to wear to an event like this, especially as it's summertime - I personally wouldn't want to wear anything too close fitting.

The dress I chose in the end is this gorgeous royal blue skater dress with silver sequin embellishments on the shoulders and around the waist. It has a finely pleated top section and a loose, floaty skirt that is the perfect balance between being too short and too long. It's still available in some sizes, so if you want a closer look, you can find it on ASOS here.

LEAVING SCHOOL.

So... it seems I may have neglected this blog a li'l bit over the last couple weeks. I feel like revision got on top of me, big time. I had to resit one of my Philosophy exams from last year, and seeing as this was my last chance to do it, I thought I'd try and work as hard as I could for it. It went quite well, so I'm hoping all that intense revision paid off!

But the fact that I've started my exams already means that I actually finished school a couple weeks ago - FOREVER! I was so excited to leave by the end because we were just doing constant revision and on some days going into school was pretty pointless as we weren't learning anything new. On the last day we had a formal assembly, got our yearbooks and leavers hoodies and then left! I wasn't particularly emotional on that final day because I know I'm gonna see all my friends during summer and we'll still keep in touch when we're all at uni. I'll still miss seeing them everyday, but we'll have more to catch up on when we do get together!

Also, having done one exam already, and having already completed my Graphic Design A Level, I feel a few steps closer to finally getting to university, especially as I've got less than 4 months to go now! I'm seriously excited to leave home, move out and start at uni. I can't wait to start experiencing new things in a completely different part of the country and meet a load of new people from all different backgrounds. I think it'll be weird at the beginning just studying one subject all the time, but hopefully it'll be what I love to do so it won't even seem like work. Also, the plus side of choosing an Art and Design subject is that I won't have written exams at the end of each year, so when all my friends are cramming for their exams, I'll be outside relaxing in the sunshine! Well, that's the plan anyway!

APRIL FAVOURITES.

This month I've been loving these amaaaazing banana chips from Holland & Barrett. They're a reasonably healthy snack (in moderation!) with a yummy coating of chocolate and yoghurt. Nom noms.

I've also started knitting this April - I'm currently in the process of making myself a hat and scarf in preparation for when I go to university up north in September! Once you've learnt the basic skills of knitting, you can just get on with it whilst catching up on your favourite TV programme!

Speaking of TV programmes, I've spent almost all my free time this month re-watching the complete box set of Heroes. It's a series about people who discover they have abilities, like time travel, regeneration, flight, etc, and how they attempt to save the world whilst still keeping their identity hidden. All the characters' paths cross, sometimes without realising it themselves, and I think the way everyone is connected in the story is brilliant. I would definitely recommend watching this if you haven't seen it before, or if you have, then go watch it again! As you can probably tell, I seriously cannot get enough of this programme!

I thought I'd also include some of the songs I've been loving this month:

Happy - Pharrell Williams
I See Fire - Ed Sheeran
Last Request - Paolo Nutini
Girls Chase Boys - Ingrid Michaelson
Electric Feel - MGMT
Not About Angels - Birdy
Mt. Washington - Local Natives
Undisclosed Desires - Muse
Best Day Of My Life - American Authors
Sweet Disposition - The Temper Trap
Big Jet Plane - Angus & Julia Stone
